Israel doesn't want people to watch the Oscar-winning film because it depicts the lives of residents of Masafer Yatta, a collection of villages in the West Bank's South Hebron Hills. They have been fighting against their expulsion since the army declared the area a live-fire exercise zone, and the Supreme Court upheld this decision. The film shows how residents cope with the occupation's multi-tentacled octopus of oppression, the abuse they suffer from the Israeli authorities, their clashes with the army, and their vulnerability to settler violence. In short, everything official Israel wants to hide in its backyard and everything the Israeli public prefers to turn a blind eye to, lest it crack the wall of self-righteousness that encompasses our national identity. — Haaretz Editorial

Stocks tank on Trump tariffs—According to the Wall Street Journal, Trump’s tariffs could cause a crash in the global economy similar to the Great Depression of the 1930s, said Andrew Wilson, deputy secretary-general of the International Chamber of Commerce. “Our deep concern is that this could be the start of a downward spiral that puts us in 1930s trade-war territory,” Wilson said.
Did you know that Mexico manufactures or partly manufactures 88% of the pickup trucks sold in America? A 25% tariff on these trucks could add about $3,000 to the price of that new Ford or GM truck you were looking at.
Trump will show them a thing or two. Right?

Trump slapped huge tariffs on imports from our biggest trading partners, Mexico, Canada, and China. Imports from these three countries account for more than 40% of the value of total US imports, which have exceeded $3 trillion annually since 2022.
MAGAs want us to stop importing fruits and vegetables from Mexico. But here’s the problem. Wanna grow food in the US? You need fertilizer, 90% of which is imported and 80% of which comes from Canada.
