'That Gaza thing' hasn't worked, says DT
He wants to send US troops to Gaza and turn the strip into a Middle East Mar-a-Lago minus the Palestinians.
First, a word about Elon Musk who leads Trump’s “move fast and break things” war on government. Without rehashing the whole Heil Hitler salute thing or his support for the fascist AfD party in Germany, it’s worth another mention of his roots as a privileged white man in apartheid South Africa only because it shines some light on his fascist, white supremacist instincts today.
The world’s richest man has often claimed to be a self-made businessman. However, many South Africans and Americans are calling out the Pretoria-born man for his wealthy, “white privilege” upbringing.
According to his father, Errol Musk, Elon grew up in a comfortable and affluent environment.
Trips on private jets and luxury vehicles.
Access to wads of cash stored in their father’s safe.
Living in mansions in Sandton, Pretoria, and Durban.
After falling out with his father, Musk left South Africa to avoid military service and came to Canada and then to the US, where he made his fortune.
Now, he’s claiming that white South Africans are victims, and he wants to allow white (only) South Africans, with money, to immigrate to the US.
There goes that right arm again.

Every day is more batshit than the last. Today, Trump is over on Truth Social, pitying South African white farmers and saying we need to bring back apartheid and cut funding for the country. Meanwhile, Elon Musk, a man with no electoral legitimacy who is originally from S. Africa and has pro-apartheid views, is sending his crypto-goons to take over the Treasury & USAID. These two things are not unconnected.
The ‘Gaza Thing’
While thousands of marchers hit the streets today in all 50 states, we are finally hearing a few peeps of protest from top Democrats. But only when it comes to the most outrageous moments during the Trump/Musk bomb-throwing DOGE march through the departments.
But as Trump proposes thousands of US troops securing Gaza in a “long-term ownership position,” moving Gazans to a “good, fresh, beautiful piece of land” in another country, and offering his vision of ethnic cleansing and mass displacement, there are only a few weak words of complaint from them over tactics.
After all, what can they say when it was Biden who welcomed Netanyahu to the White House last July? After he failed to get a ceasefire agreement? And after he bankrolled the genocidal assault on Gaza to the tune of $25B US taxpayer dollars?

“Look, the Gaza thing has not worked. It’s never worked,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office ahead of the meeting with Netanyahu.
Sitting next to Trump and grinning, Netanyahu said that the new U.S. president "can help enormously. He brings fresh thinking.”

Is this another Trump gambit where he plays the madman, gets some real or imagined goodies from threatened allies or perceived enemies, pulls it all back, and declares a victory? Yes, of course it is.
Will it succeed? Only in keeping his enemies off balance and creating chaos, confusion, and fear. It’s the atmosphere in which autocratic power emerges full-blown. Then there’s also the matter of keeping global media attention focused 24/7 on himself and his temporary kleptocratic partner, Elon Musk, as they enforce their own brand of abolitionism.
Next up? The Department of Education.
