Trump cuts military budget & closes bases: Terrible? Great? or Not Really.
Post-apocalyptic image of Gazans returning home
Who needs Orwell?
"I think we can all agree that if there’s going to be fraud, it should at least go to Americans." — Elon Musk
"Diversity is our strength" is the "dumbest phrase in military history" — Sec. of Defense Pete Hegseth
“Peace is more dangerous than war.” — Denmark Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.
I read the news today, oh boy.
Did you hear that Trump closed a NATO military base in Greece? Some are claiming it was just another example of Trump cozying up to Putin, setting Europe up for an all-out Russian land invasion. There are even reports that Trump wants the US, China, and Russia to cut military spending in half and that Putin supports the plan.
For this discussion, let’s just chalk that last one up to Trumpian populist bullshit.
But I, for one, would be glad to hear about any real cuts to the military budget. After all, how many damn military bases does one superpower need? And how many bases do we have to pay for? `
Not to mention that even if they close one base in Greece, there are still hundreds of US/NATO bases left in Europe and around the world. How many? The US operates at least (some are secret) 750 military bases spread across 80 countries worldwide. For comparison, China has established one foreign base in Djibouti.

Oh wait…You say the entire story was a false flag (no pun intended)?
This, from Grok the Deity:

The post references the U.S. military presence in Alexandroupoli, Greece, which serves as a key logistical hub for NATO operations in southeastern Europe. However, claims of Trump’s closure lack official confirmation and contradict statements from credible sources.
This from the Greek City Times
Is There a US Military Base in Alexandroupolis?
Despite its increasing importance, there is no permanent US military base in Alexandroupolis. The confusion likely stems from the US military’s use of local facilities under a broader defense agreement with Greece.
And what about those supposed cuts to the Pentagon budget?
Sec. Pete Hegseth directed Pentagon officials to identify approximately $50 billion in the Biden administration’s budget proposal that could be redirected or cut. This amounts to roughly 8% of the military’s budget.
Great, right? Maybe take a chunk out of the massive nuclear arsenal that could only be used to destroy the planet? Or actually close some of the hundreds of military bases around the world, as I mentioned above.
Well, not quite. For one thing, even these cuts are just being talked about. No actual funds are being cut at this point, and few are likely in the near future.
For another, Hegseth’s directive only aims to reallocate funds from programs labeled as “woke” (e.g., climate change initiatives, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs, to Trump administration priorities, such as securing the U.S. border, building an “Iron Dome” defense system, and strengthening “military readiness.”

The current speculation on Ukraine peace talks has made Gaza disappear from view.
I’m devastated staring at this shocking WSJ video image of Gazans returning to what once was their homes to take stock of the damage done with US support. It’s the stuff post-apocalyptic nightmares are made up. Nothing can justify this great crime against humanity.
The slo-mo WSJ photo: You nailed it.
