Weekend Quotables: Trump changes his tune from 'we'll all be rich', to 'recession possible.'
Drawing huge crowds at anti-oligarchy rallies, Bernie takes leadership of the anti-Trump resistance. Democrats 'lay low.'

Just a few days ago, Trump was shouting the good news. His stop-and-start tariffs on Mexico, Canada, and China were already working and would “make America rich again.”
"All I know is this. We're going to take in hundreds of billions of dollars in tariffs, and we're going to become so rich you're not going to know where to spend all that money.” — Fox News
Great news, right? We’re all going to be rich. I was already making up my spending list. What will I do with all that money? Let me think…
On Saturday, Trump reposted an article by conservative activist Charlie Kirk, whose headline was “Shut Up About Egg Prices—Trump is Saving Consumers Millions.”
But then, yesterday, DT was already backtracking and sending out cryptic messages about a possible recession ahead amid the effects of a global trade war on markets.
When asked in a “Sunday Morning Futures” interview on Fox News if he was expecting a recession this year, Trump replied: “I hate to predict things like that. There is a period of transition because what we’re doing is very big.”

Sec. Lutnick said on Sunday that there were no plans to change the steel and aluminum tariffs — and unlike his boss, he dismissed concerns about a recession.
Trump is “going to win for the American people. That’s just the way it’s going to be. There’s going to be no recession in America,” he said. Lutnick added: “I would never bet on recession. No chance.”— NBC’s “Meet the Press” [I’m filing this one away for future use.]

Jake Tapper, on CNN, interviewed Florida Senator Rick Scott.
TAPPER: How can you look at experts in nuclear weapons being fired then rehired and think, 'Oh, this process is working exactly as it should be'?
RICK SCOTT: I'm a business guy. You do the best you can every day. What they're trying to do is rein in government. Are they gonna be perfect? No.
